AdBlue In Your Diesel

In Bedfordshire we are identifying increasingly more examples of AdBlue contamination whereby a motorist has poured AdBlue straight into their diesel tank. This is to a certain extent as a consequence of people not knowing the right way to work with it (take note: it's in fact not a fuel additive), and partly because the inlets for diesel and AdBlue are normally right adjacent to one another on the automobile.

Well, what's the problem with putting AdBlue in your diesel vehicle? Seeing as the product is mainly ionised water, it is actually nearly as good as pouring water in your tank. Diesel and water don't blend whatsoever and attempting to run a diesel car on water cannot work. Additionally, the urea is extremely corrosive to fuel system lines and seals and is prone to crystallisation, damaging injectors and filters.

In case you poured AdBlue in the fuel tank drain it as soon as possible. And certainly be careful not to start the car - not even to move it off the pump. If perhaps you did start the vehicle you may most likely need to have the entire fuel system purged and filters changed.

Fuel contaminated with water

Fuel contaminated with water, no matter whether it's unleaded or diesel, is generally an important matter to take care of in a vehicle - particularly in modern day common-rail engines. Water in the fuel tank may lead to idling issues, irregular running, excessive smoke and, if it is not addressed effectively, quite possibly damaged injectors.
